Much needed rainfall occurred over the Coastal Bend of south Texas on August 14th and 15th as an area of low pressure, that formed over the northwest Gulf of Mexico, moved inland. The low pressure area was close to becoming a tropical depression and the National Hurricane Center designated the system invest 98L. Bands of heavy tropical rainfall moved across Corpus Christi from the late morning into the middle of the afternoon. Locally heavy rainfall produced flooding of roadways across the city.
