A weak stationary front extended from Eastern Oklahoma across Northeast Texas and North Louisiana during the afternoon hours of September 1st. Meanwhile, a shortwave trough shifted east across Oklahoma and North Texas, atop the stalled front during the afternoon and evening. This trough enhanced large scale forcing along the front, with pockets of differential heating resulting in needed instability to enhance shower and thunderstorm development.
