A slow moving cold front drifted south across East Texas and North Louisiana south of the Interstate 20 corridor during the morning hours of April 6th. Abundant moisture from the Gulf and the Southern Pacific continued to stream northeast along and behind the front, south of an upper low that shifted northeast into the Central Plains. This moisture enhanced rain rates, with embedded thunderstorms developing and moving repeatedly over the same areas. Widespread rainfall amounts of 3-5 inches fell
