Showers and thunderstorms developed over northwest Arkansas during the late morning of the 2nd and moved northeastward while expanding in coverage and intensity during the afternoon and evening as a strong upper level trough moved northeastward from west Texas toward the Missouri and Kansas border. The rain persisted until the late morning of the 3rd.
