As a frontal boundary sits to the north in the Florida Peninsula, there was abundant moisture across southern Florida. With diurnally driven instability and plentiful moisture, there were numerous heavy downpours and thunderstorms. The slow-moving storms across the east coast led to several inches of rain in the eastern metropolitan corridor.
