A mesoscale convective system moved into the northeast portion of West Tennessee during the early morning hours of July 19, 2023. The environment was favorable for severe hail and damaging winds with about 3000 J/kg of mixed layer convective available potential energy and steep lapse rates. Slow storm motion, training storms, and precipitable water values greater than two inches resulted in some flash flooding.
