Strong to severe thunderstorms developed in the late afternoon into the evening along a slow moving to nearly stationary frontal boundary. As storms moved across central Missouri Additional rainfall fell over areas that received rain the previous day and earlier in the morning of the 3rd. Hail up to golf balls in size were reported with the strongest updrafts in central Missouri.
