A cold front and upper low crossed the region during the 13th. Steepening lapse rates with the upper low and increasing shear along the front supported afternoon thunderstorm development across northern and eastern Maine. Some of the thunderstorms became severe...producing large hail and damaging winds. Heavy rains also accompanied some of the storms leading to flash flooding.
