On the afternoon of the ninth, thunderstorms initially developed along a low-level boundary cutting west to east across the central South Plains and Rolling Plains, fueled by deep, rich moisture and a weakness aloft. Numerous outflow boundaries developed across the South Plains region further sparking additional showers and thunderstorm growth.
