A weak stationary frontal boundary combined with a weak upper-level disturbance and remnant atmospheric moisture from former Tropical Storm Ileana (central Gulf of California) to provide slow moving mid to late afternoon thunderstorms from Harlingen to Brownsville. Between 3.5 and just under 6 inches fell, with rainfall rates nearing 3 inches per hour for up to two hours in areas from central Brownsville to east Harlingen where flooding was reported.
