An upper level trough approaching Southern New England set off showers and thunderstorms across much of the area. With cold temperatures aloft, hail was the main threat experienced. However, thunderstorm winds and heavy rainfall also produced some damage and complications, with portions of a few roads closed due to fallen trees or flooding.
