Strong thunderstorms moved southwestward into the Tucson Metro area causing power outages and fire starts due to lightning. Additionally, the storms produced heavy rainfall causing running water over roadways in the Tucson Metro. Heavy rainfall also caused a roadway to close for roughly 24 hours in Benson.

Another severe thunderstorm moved over Sierra Vista, nearly the same time as the microburst in Wilcox. However, this storm produced heavy precipitation resulting in a flash flood as well as strong winds. Most of the wind damage resulted in uprooted trees.

Scattered thunderstorms moved west across mainly Graham and Cochise Counties in southeast Arizona. Storms produced damaging winds and flash flooding in Safford. Heavy rain and flash flooding occurred in Saint David and over the Lizard Fire Burn Scar.

A breach in a berm along Rucker Creek near the northeast edge of Elfrida caused flash flooding in part of town on August 23. Additional rainfall in town and upstream of the breach exacerbated the flooding later that day.
