The remnants of Tropical Storm Fay moved slowly up the west side of the Appalachian mountains and interacted with a frontal boundary just to our south. Some upslope enhancement occurred allowing 5-10 inches of rain to fall. The heavier rains caused flash flooding over portions of northwest North Carolina.
