A surface low northwest of the Garden Island of Kauai, a surface front, and an upper air trough generated heavy showers and thunderstorms over most of the Aloha State. Several schools were closed, and many roadways became impassable because of high water and debris. Damages were extensive to homes and other structures, and to agriculture.
