A significant low pressure system developed in the lee of the Rocky Mountains over Colorado and Wyoming Sunday, March 22nd, strengthening and ejecting northeast into the upper Midwest by Tuesday, March 24th. Strong southerly flow ahead of this storm system brought ample Gulf of Mexico moisture all the way into southern Canada, setting the stage for significant precipitation accumulations across the region. Winter storm and blizzard watches and warnings were posted well in advance of the storm. W
