A mature, very intense derecho moved rapidly east along a stationary front across the Mid Mississippi Valley into the Lower Ohio Valley. Winds along the bowing portion of the derecho weakened significantly before entering western Kentucky. Near the comma head on the northern end of the bow, some minor damage occurred in Union County.
