An area of low pressure interacted with a very moist air mass across Vermont during the afternoon and evening of July 29th. Numerous showers and a few thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall fell across southern Vermont, especially in northwest Rutland county.||Numerous roads and culverts were washed out by flash flooding in the towns of Fair Haven, Hydeville, Hubbardton, Castleton, and Benson.
