A combination of moderate low level flow from the Gulf of Mexico and mid-level flow advecting moisture from the remnants of Tropical Storm Rick produced a deep tropical airmass ahead of a cold front over South Central Texas. These ingredients led to heavy rain and flash flooding. There was one flash flood related death.
