As the result of a wet winter with precipitation above normal, the soils in Hopkins County remained saturated and low lying areas remained wet. Continuous rainfall on February 4th with accumulations of 1-2 of rain flooded low lying areas, affecting surrounding areas. Some roads near these low lying areas were closed.
