High pressure aloft was centered over central Arizona on July 19th. Numerous thunderstorms rotated around this upper high, and affected much of southeast Arizona during the afternoon and evening hours. Afternoon and early evening storms impacted mainly Cochise and Santa Cruz counties, with late evening and early morning storms impacting the Tucson metro area.
