A low pressure system moved from Louisiana on the morning of April 14th, to Eastern Kentucky later that evening. Once in Eastern Kentucky, the low pressure system slowed its movement considerably, as the system strengthened. Rain showers moved into the area on the 14th, and lingered into the 15th, with the bulk of the rainfall occurring on the 14th. The slower movement of the low pressure system, combined with its strengthening, caused excessive rainfall over the eastern portion of Kentucky. The
