A stationary front located along the Canadian border resulted in 2 to 3 inches of rain during the evening of April 26. The heaviest rain fell between 8 pm and midnight. The Connecticut River in Pittsburg rose rapidly and flooded portions of route 3 in Pittsburg, Clarksville, Stewartstown, and Colebrook. As much as 2 feet of water covered route 3 in places. In addition many small tributaries to the Connecticut River flooded resulting in overburdened culverts and washed out roads.
