A cool upper-level trough centered over Eastern Washington produced unstable conditions on the afternoon of June 1st. Over northern Spokane County, scattered thunderstorms developed in the afternoon. One storm which developed over the northwest portion of Spokane quickly intensified and became nearly stationary for roughly 30 to 45 minutes.
