Low pressure moved across the Great Lakes bringing moist, unstable air to the region. Showers and thunderstorms developed along lake breeze boundaries and persisted through the late afternoon and evening hours across the western southern tier and western Finger Lakes Region. Localized rainfall amounts of up to three inches fell in just a few hours resulting in flash flooding. Numerous roads were closed and/or damaged by the flood waters. Basements were flooded.
