Scattered severe thunderstorms developed across areas on the Caprock and southwestern Texas Panhandle during the early evening hours. Many of the initial storms developed on an outflow boundary that moved into the area from an early morning MCS in the central Texas Panhandle. Storms began near the Texas/New Mexico state line and moved slowly to the east-northeast. The most damaging severe storm of the evening occurred in Castro County.
