A compact upper level low pressure system to the northwest created ripe conditions for thunderstorm development. A thunderstorm complex moved into north Texas on the morning of July 10, causing flash flooding across a few counties north of the metroplex. Storms later redeveloped along boundaries left over from that morning's thunderstorms. Flash flooding occurred again on the 11th as rain fell on saturated soils.
