Severe thunderstorms formed in a moist and moderately to strongly unstable air mass situated on the periphery of a large Upper Level High Pressure System over the Ohio Valley. The storms produced mostly wind damage. However, training convective cells produced some major flash flooding across the Tri-Cities area.
