Tropical Storm Allison caused minor problems along coastal sections of southwest Louisiana, but eventually resulted in catstrophic flood losses further inland. Wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph resulted in minor roof damage to less than ten homes along the coast in Cameron Parish between the evening of June 5th and the early morning hours of June 6th. Harvey moved across the Gulf of Mexico into the central Texas Coast during the last week of August. After the initial landfall, the cyclone moved back into the gulf a couple days later and then made another landfall in Southwest Louisiana during the morning of the 30th.

A mesoscale convective vortex interacted with a weak cold front over the the southeast states and northeast Gulf of Mexico. The surface low that developed moved southwest across the gulf then northwest into the south central Louisiana coast.
