Strong thunderstorms over the southeastern New Mexico plains resulted in flash flooding across parts of eastern Eddy and Lea Counties. Several area highways and city streets were rendered impassable by flowing flood waters. A railroad track section near New Mexico State Highway 31 was destroyed by the flood waters.
