Thunderstorms produced heavy rain which breached an old irrigation ditch and also resulted in raging rivers of water and boulders up to two feet in diameter to flow down stream beds. In the Elk Run subdivision, streets were flooded and basements were filled with muddy water up to four feet deep. Landscaping and fencing were destroyed on numerous properties, including the cemetery and the Roaring Fork Golf Course.
