Flooding along the Susquehanna River in Pennsylvania and an approaching ice dam forced officials at the Conowingo Dam to open about 40 of 52 flood gates. This surge of water flooded Port Deposit starting around 4 p.m. on the 20th. About 700 residents were evacuated (almost the whole town), 250 stayed at Red Cross shelters. There were 28 water rescues that involving 80 persons and two were hospitalized for exposure and hypothermia. The initial evacuation was north of Main Street on Saturday (
