Torrential rains associated with a strong feed of tropical moisture along a cold front produced average rain totals of 2 to 3 inches across much of northern Virginia. Rainfall rates were maximized along a line of showers and thunderstorms which intensified as it moved across the Piedmont. The flooding closed several roads in western Prince William Co, slowing the Friday evening commute. No injuries or deaths were reported.
