Thunderstorms developed in a warm, moist, unstable airmass ahead of a strong cold front early on the 17th. These storms produced mainly wind damage as 8 to 10 trees fell on houses in Oconee county, a gas station canopy was blown off in Anderson county, and a large tree fell on a house in Easley. Trees were blown down across Highway 14 near Pelham. Near Lake Blalock in Spartanburg county, significant parts of 2 roofs were blown off 2 houses, a dozen trees were downed, and a chimney collapsed.
