Flash Flood — Tuscaloosa, AL

Sep 21, 1998

The remnants of Tropical Storm Hermine dumped 6+ inches of rain on southern Tuscaloosa County especially the southeastern corner, northern Bibb County, and southwest Shelby County. Several roads were closed and some cars were swamped. Several motorists were stranded on CR 24 in Bibb County. Numerous vehicles were damaged in Montevallo along with flooding of some apartments.

Hurricane Katrina made landfall along the Gulf Coast early Monday morning August 29, 2005 as a large category four hurricane. Sustained winds were around 145 mph in southeast Louisiana. Katrina continued northward affecting areas from New Orleans to Mobile.
