An upper level low and frontal boundary produced impressive rainfall in a 24-hour period ending at 12Z on the 20th. There were widespread 3 to 5 inch amounts with isolated higher totals (6���+ in Alleghany County, NC). Flood Advisories were issued in the late afternoon of April 19th for a number of northwest NC counties quickly followed by a Flash Flood Warning (FFW) for Watauga and Ashe counties at 625 PM EDT.
