Northeastern Kansas was hit by three waves of thunderstorms on June 27 and 28, which produced excessive rainfall and eventually resulted in significant flash flooding in the Kansas City area. The first complex of storms moved through on the morning of June 27, without much in the way of excessive rain or severe weather.
