Scattered thunderstorms were spawned over northeast Pennsylvania by an upper level disturbance that moved out of the Ohio Valley earlier in the evening. Several trees and some powerlines were downed over parts of the area as a results of strong wind gusts interacting with full canopy trees. Torrential rains also caused minor ponding of water in many locations and street flooding in the city of Wilkes--Barre.
