A very warm and humid air mass was in place over eastern Upstate New York on Sunday, July 19th with temperatures reaching over 90 degrees in many areas. The warm and humid conditions allowed the atmosphere to become quite unstable.||As a cold front approached from the eastern Great Lakes, clusters of thunderstorms developed over the region during the late afternoon and early evening hours and moved eastward.
