A slow moving cold front moving into the area coupled with deep upper low settling southward into the Tennessee Valley region set the stage for multiple rounds of convection during the afternoon into the evening. Some of these storms produced large hail and flash flooding. Some of the flooding was significant across the Sandhills region, where 6 to 10 inches or rain fell.
