A prolonged period of strong and gusty onshore northeast winds resulted in high waves crashing into the western shore of Lake Michigan from overnight of April 13th through the 14th, into the early morning of April 15th. Northeast winds were persistent 20 to 30 mph with frequent gusts of 35 to 45 mph for about a 24 hour period. Waves were estimated to reach 15 feet as they crashed into shore. These waves and high lake levels resulted in areas of lakeshore erosion and damage from Port Washington
