A loosely organized band of thunderstorms developed over southern Illinois during the heat of the afternoon, and then moved southeast. The strongest storm cells within this band produced strong gusty winds, including a few damaging wind events. A surface front was reinforced and pushed south near the Ohio River from overnight and morning convection.
