Thunderstorms developed across the central deserts during the afternoon hours on July 11th, and the stronger storms produced intense rainfall that led to episodes of flash flooding to the south of Phoenix, mainly across the northwest portions of Pinal County. The storms also produced gusty outflow winds that stirred up significant amounts of dust which led to dust storm conditions near the town of Coolidge. Some of flash flooding impacted both highway 238 and Interstate 8 just east of the Marico
