Flow around high pressure off the southeast coast was pulling abnormally high moisture into the northern Gulf of Mexico states from Subtopical Storm Alberto off the Yucatan Peninsula. Storms triggering off a boundary in northwest Georgia continued to redevelop over the same area, producing high rainfall amounts. Radar estimates indicate that rainfall amounts were generally 3 to 5 inches, occurring in the late evening on May 25 and lasting through the morning of May 26.
