Heavy rain showers and isolated thunderstorms developed near the Blue Ridge escarpment within a moist southeast upslope flow throughout the 29th. Localized heavy rainfall developed during the evening and into the early morning hours of the 30th, culminating in localized flash flooding across the mountains during the early morning hours.
