Another very moist storm system similar to the system on the 7th brought widespread heavy rainfall. Rainfall amounts from 2 to 4 inches were common during a 48-hour period. Isolated higher amounts near 5 inches occurred near the Tennessee border from Fulton to Murray. This heavy rain fell on ground that was saturated from previous heavy rain events earlier in the month, causing rapid runoff.
