North of the confluence of the Ohio River, the Mississippi River remained above flood stage all month. At the Cape Girardeau river gage, the river crested at 41.43 feet on the 4th. Flood stage is 32 feet. This flooding was considered moderate. Considerable flooding of low-lying woods and fields occurred, including about 15,000 acres in Cape Girardeau County alone.
