Strong to severe thunderstorms developed over central Oklahoma during the evening hours of the 28th, ahead of a cold front that pushed into the area from the west. These storms moved east across eastern Oklahoma during the early morning hours of the 29th. The strongest storms produced damaging wind gusts as they quickly moved through the area.
