Isolated to scattered monsoon thunderstorms developed across portions of the greater Phoenix area during the afternoon hours on July 30th. Some of the stronger storms produced very heavy rainfall, with peak rain rates in excess of 1.5 inches per hour. The heavy rain led to an episode of flash flooding in the community of Apache Junction.
