Within an extremely moist environment (precipitable water values in the vicinity of 2 inches) owing to the passing remnants of Tropical Storm Barry, the combination of daytime heating and a developing lake breeze boundary forced an initial line of showers and thunderstorms to form immediately to the lee of Lake Erie around mid afternoon.
