A weak surface boundary ahead of an approaching cold front spawned one severe thunderstorm causing tree damage in Charlotte County. Several other scattered thunderstorms developed across the Piedmont region, resulting in pockets of 2 to localized 4 inch amounts per radar estimates. The intense rainfall over short durations resulted some brief flash flooding.
